Nuclear Medicine Research Center
Kauno klinikos is the only medical institution in the Baltic States with an on-site cyclotron, enabling local production of radiopharmaceuticals for advanced PET imaging. This significantly improves the early and accurate diagnosis of oncological, cardiological, neurological, and other diseases, reducing dependence on imported compounds that are short-lived and costly.
The Nuclear Medicine Research Centre, opened in June 2024, is a state-of-the-art facility that enhances Lithuania’s capabilities in diagnostics, treatment, and scientific research. At its core is the cyclotron, producing various radiopharmaceuticals used in precision imaging and therapy.
The Centre also includes a radiopharmaceutical quality control laboratory to ensure the safety and efficacy of produced compounds. A dedicated team of medical physicists, chemists, radiochemists, and engineers manages its operation.
This development marks a major step forward in personalized and precision medicine in the region and aligns with Kauno klinikos’ strategic vision to bridge research and clinical practice, strengthening both patient care and innovation.
