Intensive Care Department is defined by the following objectives:
- The department provides resuscitation and intensive care services to adult patients in whom anesthesia may cause acute or prolonged impairment of vital functions. These patients require non-invasive monitoring of vital signs and active nursing care but do not require intensive treatment. Patients are monitored and treated until full restoration of consciousness, protective reflexes, and stable vital signs.
- Provides resuscitation and intensive care services for adult patients in whom an illness or accident is likely to cause acute impairment of vital functions. These patients require non-invasive monitoring of vital signs, active care, and treatment.
- Provides resuscitation and intensive care services for adult patients with complicated, progressive, or multiple pathologies resulting from an acute illness, accident, or as a consequence of surgical or other intensive treatment, where the patients require a comprehensive examination, non-invasive or invasive monitoring of vital signs and the correction and maintenance of vital signs using machines and/or drugs, and advice from other specialists.
- To provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy services according to approved indications.
- To provide emergency consultative healthcare assistance as regulated by the orders of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania.
